The Saskatchewan Science Centre is proud to celebrate Nuclear Science Week on Saturday, October 25, 2025, with an afternoon of activities and presentations designed to help the public explore and better understand nuclear science.

From 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM, visitors can enjoy all of the Science Centre’s regular exhibits along with special activities highlighting nuclear science. The Saskatchewan Geological Survey (Government of Saskatchewan) will be on-site with hands-on demonstrations and educational displays, and Science Centre staff will lead their own interactive nuclear-themed activity. Additional community partners may also join the event.

At 3:30 PM, guests are invited to a special Nuclear 101 presentation featuring two leading experts:

  • Dr. Arthur Situm, Assistant Professor in Energy Systems Engineering at the University of Regina.
  • Dr. Steve Livingstone, Specialist, Small Modular Reactor Development at SaskPower.

They will introduce the fundamentals of nuclear energy and discuss SaskPower’s work in advancing small modular reactor (SMR) development in Saskatchewan. The presentation will conclude with an open Q&A session, giving attendees the chance to ask questions and learn directly from the experts.
